FAQS
MicrocynAH® PhD Healthy Regime Soft Chews
Where are the ingredients sourced from?
We only source ingredients locally in Canada, first, and then look to the USA for ingredients we can't source locally. There are absolutely no artificial ingredients or colors in our products.
How do I know your products are safe?
We make our treats in a BRC certified facility - a facility certified to make human-grade products. Because we adhere to human standards, all of our ingredients are sourced from local Canadian and US suppliers with a focus on sustainability, environmental responsibility and ethical products. Our treats are completely free of steroids, antibiotics or any chemical ingredients. We are very serious about what goes in our products, how they are made and who makes them!
What are the health benefits of giving my dog & cat PhD Healthy Regime Treats®?
Our ingredients are chosen for one purpose only: health and function. Just like you feel great eating wholesome food, your dog will thrive on our PhD Healthy Regime treats. Packed with natural, real ingredients, these snacks deliver vitamins, omega-3 & 6 fatty acids, antioxidants, and dietary fiber—boosting their health and well-being. Visit our ingredients page for more details!
Should I consult my vet before giving my dog & cat PhD Healthy Regime Treats®?
Our team includes a PhD Animal Nutrition expert, ensuring our recipes are healthy, compliant, and free of harmful ingredients. However, we recommend informing your vet about your pet’s diet for complete health monitoring. If your pet has allergies or specific health concerns, consult your vet before feeding.
How many should I feed my dog & cat per day?
PhD Healthy Regime Treats are snacks, not a primary food source. Our nutritionist advises that treats make up less than 10% of your pet’s daily intake. Specific feeding guidelines, created by our Doctor of Nutrition, are provided on each package.
What if my dog or cat has a sensitive stomach?
We use only natural, healthy ingredients in our treats, so they shouldn’t cause issues. However, we recommend checking ingredient lists to avoid anything your pet has reacted to before. If your pet has a sensitive stomach, consult your vet to identify the cause before trying new snacks or food.
What if my dog or cat doesn’t like PhD Healthy Regime Treats®?
If your dog or cat doesn’t love our treats, take it back to the store where you bought it for a full refund, send it back to us or donate the package to a local shelter. We can send you a refund.
What’s the shelf life of PhD Healthy Regime Treats®?
Our healthy treats have a 24-month shelf life. For maximum freshness, consume each pack within 8-12 weeks of opening.
MicrocynAH® Advanced Animal Skin Care
Can you use MicrocynAH® Skin Spray on the ears and eyes?
MicrocynAH® Wound and Skin Care products are safe for use around the eyes and ears. For ear cleaning, we recommend the Ear Wash, as each product is specially formulated for its specific purpose.
Can you use MicrocynAH® Wound & Skin Care after the expiration date?
MicrocynAH® should only be used within the timeframe indicated on the product label (expiration date). Using it after this date may reduce its effectiveness.
Are MicrocynAH® Wound and Skin Care products bleach and why is it safe to use?
MicrocynAH® Wound and Skin Care products are not bleach. Bleach is corrosive, toxic, will burn, generates fumes/vapors and is not safe for use on the intended applications of MicrocynAH®. In addition, stabilized bleach has a pH of >11. MicrocynAH® products are manufactured within an appropriate physiological pH range and typically do not sting when applied. They will not harm healthy tissue in the process of cleaning and debriding wounds.
How would you know if a bottle of MicrocynAH® had been frozen?
You may know due to the bottle leaking as a result of expansion of the formula in the freezing process. The bottle walls may collapse after thawing out or there may be evidence of ice in the container. We recommend storing at room temperature away from direct sunlight and heat. Do not allow to freeze because product may lose its potency. After use, seal or close container.
Can MicrocynAH® be used with another product or medicine?
We prefer MicrocynAH® to be used singularly per label indications. MicrocynAH® has no known contraindications and no known negative drug interactions. If you need to apply other remedies, such as fly repellents, it is recommended that you apply MicrocynAH® first and wait at least 60 seconds before using any other products. We recommend that you advise your veterinarian of any treatment protocol you are following in addition to their recommendations.
The product is cloudy. Is that normal?
If the product is a gel it should be cloudy. It must be shaken well prior to application. The liquid formulas are clear and should not be cloudy. In the event it is cloudy, you should not use it, but contact customer service at info@mpfpetfoods.ca for product exchange if the product is still within the expiration date.
Can MicrocynAH® be transferred to another bottle for application?
The transfer or decanting of MicrocynAH® products is not recommended due to potential contamination and/or ingredients being neutralized by undue exposure to air. Unfriendly container materials, even if ”unused” or “clean”, will contaminate the solution and can neutralize the product. For these reasons, it is recommended that MicrocynAH® products be used in its original container and configuration.
How do MicrocynAH® Skin Care products work?
MicrocynAH® works by mechanically cleaning and debriding the affected area while helping promote natural healing.
What makes MicrocynAH® Skin Care unique from other animal wound cleansers/dressings?
MicrocynAH® Skin Care products stand out for their safety, shelf stability, and quality. Formulated with patented Microcyn® Technology, they are non-toxic, non-irritating, and safe for all animal species, ages, and conditions—even around the eyes, nose, ears, and mouth. Free of steroids, alcohol, tea tree oil, and antibiotics, MicrocynAH® offers reliable shelf stability, unlike other hypochlorous acid (HOCl) products that degrade quickly in light. Avoid HOCl products in translucent bottles for optimal effectiveness.
Why is it significant that MicrocynAH® contains no antibiotics?
The fact that MicrocynAH® does not contain antibiotics is significant due to the concern that overuse of antibiotics promotes resistance. The repeated and extended use of MicrocynAH® in cleaning and debriding the wound bed has no adverse consequences and does not promote resistance. In addition, if there are regulatory limitations for use of antibiotics, those limitations do not apply to MicrocynAH® since it is antibiotic-free.
What if a wound immediately turns red when using MicrocynAH®?
This is nothing to be concerned about. This is a normal observation as a result of using MicrocynAH® for cleansing and debriding wounds since it increases the flow of both blood and healing nutrients to a wound site.
Has MicrocynAH® Skin Care efficacy and safety been proven in clinical studies?
The patented Microcyn® Technology, from which the MicrocynAH® products are derived, have received 13 FDA 510k clearances for human wound care (the FDA does not issue 510k clearances for animal healthcare products). To demonstrate safety and effectiveness, there have been two major animal clinical studies and 30 human clinical studies conducted to date using the patented Microcyn® Technology. To ensure that your animal healthcare products are of the highest quality, make certain to look for the Microcyn® Technology inside emblem.
Is MicrocynAH® available outside of Canada?
Yes. MicrocynAH is available in international markets including in USA, UK, Finland, Japan, Thailand, Taiwan, Mainland China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Philippines, Indonesia.
MicrocynAH® Wound and Skin Care has a faint chlorine smell. When applied to an open wound, isn’t the chlorine painful to the animal?
While there is a slight chlorine odor, this is due to a proprietary amount of free available chlorine (FAC) measured in parts per million which is not significant enough to cause stinging or pain.
Can MicrocynAH® be used safely with kittens and puppies?
Yes, MicrocynAH® is safe for use on all animal species of all ages.
Can MicrocynAH® be used on all animals?
Yes, MicrocynAH® is safe for use on all animals including mammals, reptiles and avian.

What is meant when you say that MicrocynAH® “tests free”?
This means that MicrocynAH® contains no ingredients that would result in a positive blood or urine analytical test for non-permitted substances in race or show animals (if ingested or licked). Since there are no banned substances, steroids or antibiotics, MicrocynAH® tests free for competitive animals.
How should MicrocynAH® Skin Care be stored?
