Bleach-Free Formulations

The advanced MicrocynAH® liquid wound care products are now third-generation Microcyn® Technology and contain no sodium hypochlorite (bleach), only hypochlorous acid. This is preferable because as a preservative, hypochlorous acid is 70-100 times more antimicrobial than sodium hypochlorite. 

Light Stability

HOCl is highly light sensitive and as a result, is rapidly destroyed if packaged in a translucent bottle and placed on a shelf in a store, garage, or barn. This is particularly an issue if the bottle is exposed to direct sunlight where the product can lose all of its hypochlorous acid in as little as one to two months. For that reason, MicrocynAH’s R&D team has conducted extensive studies on hundreds of bottles to ensure that our white opaque packaging provides the greatest protection from light degradation without negatively affecting normal product stability. The addition of colorants to plastic bottles does not add significant light protection, if any, but does decrease product stability through reactions with the hypochlorous acid.
